Yesterday turned out to be a pretty good day, considering I had juvenile court with my 9 year old son. It was an early warning program designed to let the students and parents aware of our state laws regarding conduct and attendance at school. My son had missed enough school that he was referred into this program. I think it scared him enough to not give him another reason to want to stay home instead of going to school. The judge spoke directly to the kids and made them aware of the consequences of truancy. The session lasted a little over an hour and I had him back in school by 9:30 a.m. This morning my son was up and ready for school 10 minutes early. I let him sit in my warm SUV at the bus stop until the bus arrived.
Yesterday, my supervisor confirmed the transition of the Web development to my partner and me. The contractor currently in charge of the position is moving into our department to transfer her knowledge to us over the next 60 days. We'll be using a ticket system, so I won't be "backup" as first indicated. I'm somewhat relieved at that (more job security) but also, we won't be paid more for the additional responsibilities. Meanwhile, I have two major projects that are due soon, so I should be focusing on completing those before taking on more.
