Mudvayne concert in Atlanta was awesome Friday night, 12/19/08. The tabernacle has three levels, concert being in 2nd & 3rd level. The second level was only about 100°F during the concert and the 3rd floor was about 120°F. Of course the 3rd floor being the balcony with an excellent view, I couldn't breathe and had to immediately get back down a level. Wasn't that much better below - felt like being in a sauna with jeans and long sleeve tee on. By the time we left, we all looked as though we had showered with clothes on (although we didn't smell like it!)
Mudvayne's front man, Chad Gray, was awesome. I loved the outfits he wore (red chicken suit first, then overalls w/baseball bat) and he seems to really enjoy the audience, no matter how rowdy. My view wasn't that great - being so short and not aggressive enough to push my way forward. But I was able to see and get some not-so-great photos.
The getting there was the fun (NOT) part. It started with dropping off the kids with my parents. The youngest, who's not so young (10) decided to throw a toddler tantrum. He chased us down the hill and through one street of the neighborhood. I know my son and he's determined. He would have continued running down the highway until he gave out or got picked up, so I turned around and drove him back up the hill to my parent's house. We continued this battle with him for about 30 minutes until finally my mom and my other son was able to contain him until we left. Hubby nearly popped an artery before it was all over and I was just about ready to give up and stay home. Thank goodness we didn't, we got a call about 15 minutes later that he was fine and enjoying himself. WHY does he put us through this??? Got into Atlanta and of course, the parking lot we paid in advance for was full. All of the lots around us were filling up and dudes were charging $15 and $20 to park. Hubby got dazed and confused and I finally haggled with a guy and parked for $10. Missed the first two bands, but thankfully Mudvayne had not started yet.
I suppose the sauna-like heat/humidity relaxed us - or maybe it was the beer and thick cloud of marijuana smoke in the Tabernacle, but it was all good in the end.
