“ALL mentalization reflects limitation. The mind is really unable, by its design, to discern truth from falsehood. Whatever you think is already a limitation; it’s what you are that transcends the limitation.” ---Dr. David R. Hawkins

I'm actually not a pig, but I will admit to being too self-centered alot in the past. I am working to correct it though.

Mom, Dad, & the dog

posted Friday, 4 January 2008

Yesterday wasn't one of the best days this week. I got to work and began being really nauseated. Ended up making a run for the restroom...barely making it in time. I thought I'd feel better after that, but didn't. By 11:00 a.m. I left work to go home and rest. Shortly after getting home, I got a phone call from my mom. She said Dad's blood pressure was 77/43 and he couldn't walk or even hold his head up. I knew he had to be at least dehydrated, so I told her to give him water and call the doctor. A couple of hours later, I talked to her and she was at the hospital with him. His blood pressure was still extremely low and they were running tests on him and giving him fluids for dehydration. His doctor requested he stay overnight for tests and observation. This morning, he's feeling better and his blood pressure is normal, but they've found that is liver enzymes have increased by 400% and his kidney's are not functioning correctly. The doctor also believes that Dad had a heart attack sometime over the past week. They are keeping him hospitalized through the weekend and will decide what route to go on Monday. They feel sure that his liver/kidneys are a result of drinking (we've expected this) so they are starting him on medication that should help and detoxing him. We hope he will go home and not drink again.

I kept their German Shepherd overnight (and probably through the weekend). She's my dog's sister and they love being together. However, their dog is not used to cats and spent the entire night chasing my cats when inside. We'd put her out and she scratched and banged on the door to come back in. It was an endless cycle all night. I even locked the cats in one of the bedrooms and they somehow got out or the dog in. Now it looks like we will go through this all weekend! Uggh.

My stomach is better today, though I'm feeling very tired and achy...and now worried about Dad (and Mom).
